The Air Ministry are very anxious to get ahead

with the provision of accommodation for the squadrons to be

stationed at Patheung, Hong Kong, on which they are likely

to spend not less than £1⁄2 million; and we are naturally-

reluctant to approve commitments on this scale so long as

the position in regard to their tenure of the site and their

rights in buildings erected thereon at their expense remains

doubtful. Has any progress been made towards a settlement

of these problems?

So far as we are aware no reply has been

received to your despatch to the Governor dated 9th March

c/ to Treas: 121ast (your reference 53514/37).

Yours sincerely,

Sra Se

G.E.J. Gent, Esq., D.S.O.,0.B.E.,M.C.,
